Start here: what you must know

The essential rules and checks to read before you place your first copied trade.

Read this before you place your first copied trade. These are the points that most often cause problems if they are missed.

1. Only one copier should control an account at a time

If you overlap copying systems, you can trigger duplicate entries or copying loops, conflicting cancels and modifications, and unexpected trade management.

  • Disable Tradovate Group Trade

  • Disable other third-party copiers

  • Never assign the same account to multiple copy systems simultaneously

2. Check connection health before you trade

Before you start trading, and especially at the start of the week, check the connection status for your Leader and all Followers. If anything shows disconnected or disrupted, reconnect before placing real trades.

Broker sessions can be interrupted due to maintenance, authentication refresh, broker-side outages, or platform limits. If a broker connection is disrupted, copying may be interrupted until the connection becomes healthy again or is reconnected manually.

3. Not every order type is supported

Tradesyncer works best with simple bracket and ATM-style workflows: brackets with one Take Profit and one Stop Loss, and market, limit or stop-market bracket entries. See Automated Trade Management (ATM), bracket and OCO orders for the order types that are not supported.

4. Place limit and stop orders correctly, or they may not copy

Some brokers require specific handling for limit and stop orders. See Best Practices for the detail.

5. Use Follower Protection

In real markets, followers can diverge for reasons like partial fills, latency, or broker-side rejections. Tradesyncer offers Follower Protection to help reduce the chance of follower accounts being left in an unexpected state.

6. Reset cleanly with Flatten All

When something looks off, or when you simply want to start fresh, Flatten All / Flatten Group cancels working orders, closes open positions, and resets the group back to a known clean state.

Test before you go live

A fast way to confirm replication is working is to place a limit order on the Leader far away from the current price, so it won't fill. Then verify the order shows up for Followers in Orders History and appears across all follower accounts as expected. Cancel the test order afterwards.
