Follower Protection Explained

Follower Protection keeps followers synced with the leader by making sure positions stay aligned. It prevents situations where followers stay in open trades while the leader is flat.

This feature helps when followers take partial closes, when orders fail to copy or when brokers cause delays.

What Follower Protection Does

When the leader reaches qty 0, Tradesyncer checks every follower and makes sure they reach qty 0 as well. This removes leftover positions and unwanted exposure.

All leader closing actions are supported. Market, limit and stop orders all trigger Follower Protection.

How It Works

Leader closes with a market order

If the leader goes flat with a market order, Tradesyncer checks the open qty on each follower. It sends a market order on the follower with the exact qty needed to flatten their position.

Leader closes with a limit or stop order

If the leader goes flat with a limit or stop order but a follower has a different open qty, the follower can stay in a position. Tradesyncer detects the mismatch and closes the leftover qty on the follower.

Leader orders fail to copy correctly

Sometimes an entry, take profit or stop loss on the leader does not copy to the follower. This can happen due to broker rate limits, delays or rejected orders.
Examples:
• Entry fills on the leader but not on the follower
• TP or SL executes on the leader but fails to place or fill on the follower
• Partial fills on the leader do not match on the follower

If this causes the follower to remain in an open position while the leader is flat, Tradesyncer detects it and closes the follower’s position.

Manual trades on followers

Manual positions opened on followers are closed as well. The system keeps all activity aligned with the leader only.

Open orders on followers

Open orders on followers that do not exist on the leader are not cancelled. If these orders get filled while the leader has no position, Tradesyncer closes the follower’s position.

Example

Leader opens 5 contracts.
Follower also opens 5 contracts.

Follower closes 2 contracts.
Follower now holds 3.

Leader closes all 5 and goes to 0.

Follower Protection detects the follower’s 3 remaining contracts and closes them.
The follower stays aligned.

Delay Settings

When a follower is detected with an open position while the leader is flat, Tradesyncer closes the follower’s position.
You can choose how quickly this action should trigger by adjusting the delay in the cockpit. The available range is 1.5 to 3 seconds.
